The Friends of the Appomattox River (FAR) spent three hours on April 16 conducting its annual Waterways Cleanup. This year the cleanup areas included Wilck’s Lake, the Appomattox River, Buffalo Creek and the lower section of Gross Creek. FAR members collected 14 bags of trash, four auto tires and one auto wheel totaling approximately 290 pounds of debris. This year’s volunteers included, from left, Tom Dennison, Lee Woodruff, Ron Heinemann, Bobby Hurt, Gene Donovan, Mark Kernohan, Damien Fehrer, Robin Sedgwick and Sandy Willcox.
