Commonwealth Attorney Megan Clark and Lt. Sonya Walker of the Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office visited Prince Edward County Middle School to talk with students about making good choices.

Clark and Walker discussed the importance of making good decisions and the consequences of poor decision making and negative peer pressure.

Clark shared the types of lawful consequences that people, even as young as middle school, can face as a result of making poor decisions. She also explained to the students that this can stay on an individual’s record throughout life, which can hinder chances of getting into college or trying to get a job. Clark and Walker also discussed the positive and negative ways to use social media.

Walker shared the resources that are available to students (teachers, school counselors, principals, and school resource officers) if they need help and not to take matters into their own hands.

In closing, Walker expressed to the students the importance of taking education seriously.
