The Prince Edward County High School Eagles Debate Team travelled to Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School in Richmond for the VHSL Green Region Debate Tournament. The five team members competed in student congress, and all five will be moving on to the VHSL state finals on April 22-23 at Liberty University. The students researched and presented their resolution authorship speeches on such topics as Greek debt, military spending, technology in the classroom, disaster preparedness and the Chinese economy. Alana Calhoun placed fofth, Grace Rust placed fourth and Joel Thomas placed third. The Eagles placed third overall in the region. Debbie Rush is the PECHS Debate Team coach. Pictured, from left, are Calhoun, Thomas, Rust, Rhyan Harrison and Alyssa Spease.
