Lucille Carroll Moniuszko, 77, of Buckingham, died Saturday, March 5, 2016. She was born June 27, 1938 in Buckingham County, the oldest child of the late Jesse James and Agnes Wootton Carroll. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Jesse “Jake” Carroll.
She had a lengthy and impressive resume; having worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and also, the Tax Examiner Division of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles. Her most rewarding job of all was secretary at the Dillwyn Primary School where she was affectionately known as “Ms. M.” While a patient at Heritage Hall, she frequently referred to staff by the names of her students and faculty. The staff lovingly answered to those names.
Ms. Moniuszko is survived by her six sisters, Doris Davis and husband, Harold of Dillwyn, Betty Snead and husband, Ben of Charlottesville, Faye Taylor and husband, Ron of Glenmore, Sue Bryant of Buckingham, Sandra Shumaker and husband, Garnett of Keysville and Vicki Wiseman and husband, Tim of Buckingham; sister-in-law, Phyllis Carroll; devoted aunt, Gertrue W. Carroll; dedicated friend, the Rev. Thomas Chalfant and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 8 at the Dunkum Funeral Home with interment in the Mt. Tabor Methodist Church Cemetery.
