Habitat for Humanity of Farmville and Buckingham held a gospel explosion at the Crystal Cathedral Church in Dillwyn and raised nearly $500 for the construction of a second home in Buckingham. The program was anchored by the choirs of Crystal Cathedral Church and Baptist Union Baptist Church.
More Than Blessed Gospel Singers led by keyboardist, Betty Saulisbury, who co-chaired the Gospel Explosion Committee for Habitat, opened the event and wowed the crowd of more than 100. The Rev. Dr. George A. Bates, visiting minister from Calvary Hill Baptist and a Habitat volunteer, was moderator. The Revs. Dwayne Bates and Joi Goodman and Michelle Carter, of Crystal Cathedral, provided event management, sound and videography services.
Refreshments followed in the fellowship hall. Jayne Johnson, Farmville Habitat director, and Chris Yates, board chair, wish to break ground on this Habitat home this summer.
Habitat thanks all who helped make the event a success. For more information on Habitat, call Johnson at (434) 392-6627.
