Central Virginia landowners can learn more about actively managing their forestlands during the 7th annual Forest Landowners’ Retreat, to be held March 19-20 at Bear Creek Lake State Park near Cumberland.
Topics will include working with a forester, timber sales, wildlife management, land conservation options, non-timber forest products, forest health and more.
“This program provides an excellent introduction to forest management issues, especially for those new to land ownership,” said Ellen Powell of the Virginia Department of Forestry.
The program will begin early Saturday, so Friday night lodging is available and encouraged. The cost of the retreat, including meals, Friday and Saturday night cabin lodging, and materials, is $75 per person or $150 per couple.
