FARMVILLE — For more than three decades, enthusiastic teams of Virginia youth have convened for a week in the summer to brainstorm ways to inspire their peers to keep their schools and communities alcohol and drug-free.
The Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has opened enrollment for its annual summer leadership conference, the Youth Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention Project (YADAPP), which has given rise to many innovative and collaborative programs over the years to promote safer and healthier lifestyles.
This year’s conference is set for July 18-22 at Longwood University in Farmville. Virginia high school teams of four student leaders with at least one adult sponsor are encouraged to attend this five-day conference.
Enrollment costs $300 per team ($60 per person) until April 30. The price then increases to $400 per team until the July 1 enrollment deadline. The fee includes lodging and meals at Longwood University and all conference materials for four students and one adult for the entire week. Online enrollment is available at www.yadapp.com.
