Arlene Mottley Amos Johnson

Arlene Mottley Amos Johnson, 81, of Farmville, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016. Born February 1, 1935 in Prince Edward County, she was the daughter of the late Edward C. Mottley and Donna Shullz Mottley.
She is survived by two sons, Samuel W. Amos Jr. (Nancy) of Midlothian and James G. Amos (Jeanne) of Appomattox; four grandchildren, Sabrina Amos, Jennifer Amos, Bryan Amos (Brook) and Kaitlyn Amos; one great-grandchild, Brandon Amos; two brothers, John Motley (Nancy) of Prospect and Edward Mottley (Judy) of Farmville; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Mottley of Prospect, Hattie Amos of Dillwyn and Doris Banton of Powhatan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Samuel W. Amos Sr. and husband of 11 years, Col. Maynard K. Johnson; three brothers, Dale Mottley, Joe Ray Mottley and Alfred Mottley and two sisters, Eva Smith and Lorraine McClain.
Arlene’s career included office manager for both Brisentine Oil Company and Ellington Energy Services, Inc. and pharmacy tech for CVS Pharmacy, all located in Farmville. She was a long time member of Enon Baptist Church. Her favorite pastimes were sewing, quilting, knitting, tatting and raising flowers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26 at the Dunkum Funeral Home with private interment in the Amos Family Cemetery.
