Local Roots Food Co-op has new pickup site

CUMBERLAND — The Center for Rural Culture has announced the new Local Roots Food Co-op’s customer pickup site, located at the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office in Cumberland, at 1548 Anderson Hwy., across the from the county library and the Cumberland High School.

“Local Roots Food Co-op is an online, year-round food co-op, bringing fresh sustainably grown produce, free range poultry and pork, grass fed beef, eggs, artisan breads, pasteurized milk and yogurt, natural and organic health and beauty products, soy candles and handmade soaps and much more,” stated a press release. “All producers are within 75 miles of the Richmond area and are application based. Some are Certified Naturally Grown or Certified Organic and many producers go beyond organic. All our producers use sustainable farming practices.”

“The year-round program works on a weekly buying cycle with orders opening Friday at noon and closing at midnight on the following Monday.”
