Beverly Wade Marenholz

On Tuesday, January 26, 2016, Beverly Wade Marenholz, 81, of Drakes Branch, passed away peacefully at Southside Community Hospital in Farmville after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her husband and family as she began her new life with the Lord.

Born in New Haven, CT on July 21, 1934, Beverly was the daughter of the late Louis and Virginia (Severino) Wade.  She grew up in East Haven, CT where she graduated from East Haven High School in 1953.  She married the love of her life, Otto (Bob) Marenholz in 1956 and they made their home and raised a family on West Woods Road in Hamden, CT. 

While in Connecticut, Beverly was employed by the Hamden School System and then Quinnipiac University until her retirement in 1997. She was a member of the West Woods Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a cub scout leader, a member of the “Knit Wits” knitting club and an avid hockey mom.  She was known for her hospitality; always welcoming family and friends into her home and at her kitchen table.

Upon retirement and relocating to Virginia, Beverly became an active member of the Keysville Ruritan Club, a volunteer at Southside Community Hospital and a parishioner of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmville.

Besides Otto, her husband of 59 years, she leaves her three daughters, Mary Marenholz of Drakes Branch, Patricia Johannes of Killingworth, CT, and Virginia (Michael) McHale of Scottsdale, AZ, and her son, Otto (Carol Vollrath) Marenholz Jr. of North Reading, MA.  She also leaves seven grandchildren, Michael McHale III, Jaime McHale, Kasey McHale Horrell, Madeline Marenholz, Derek Marenholz, Emery Johannes and Amanda Johannes and one great-grandson, Stephen “Q” Horrell. She is predeceased by her sister, Anona Flynn.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.  Should friends desire, gifts of remembrance of Beverly can be made to St John’s Lutheran Church, 1301 Milnwood Road, Farmville, VA 23901.
