RICHMOND — Opponents of the proposed Atlantic Coast Pipeline slated to span Buckingham, Prince Edward and Cumberland counties protested at the State Capitol Tuesday.
“Opponents of the proposed Mountain Valley Pipeline and Atlantic Coast Pipeline will travel to Richmond … Tuesday to lobby state legislators to vote for House and Senate bills which repeal a section of the Virginia Code (56.49-01) that allows surveyors the right to enter private property without the landowner’s permission to conduct surveys for natural gas pipelines,” a release stated.
“Landowners and environmentalists have joined together to lobby for property rights and to let legislators know they are strongly opposed to the proposed massive natural gas pipelines in Virginia,” the release stated.
Pipeline groups are demanding a vote this year on the bills to repeal the survey entry law.
No Pipelines Lobby Day is being sponsored by Appalachian Voices, Chesapeake Climate Action Network, Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club, Friends of Nelson and Wild Virginia.
