Miller named to Area 21 Office

APPOMATTOX — The Virginia State Police Appomattox Division Area 21 Office has began the New Year with new leadership. First Sgt. Gregory L. Miller has been named to the division.
“Miller, 44, was previously assigned to Area 18 as a sergeant before being promoted Nov. 25, to his new position as first sergeant of the Area 21 Office,” said state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller.
Area 21 encompasses the counties of Appomattox and Prince Edward.
“A 19-year veteran with VSP, Miller joined the department in 1996 and graduated as a member of the 95th Basic Session. His first patrol assignment was to Nelson County in Area 18. In 2002, he was promoted to sergeant and continued working in Area 18. He supervised the Appomattox Division Motorcycle Unit from 2009 to 2012, and is a member of the Department’s Tactical Field Force,” she said.
Miller is a licensed attorney and a captain (Judge Advocate) in the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps.
