Local residents share holiday events and visits

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and children Brianna, Charles and Christina hosted Christmas dinner for his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith, and Dianna’s mother, Mrs. Joyce Trinner.

On Christmas evening Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith invited several friends over for a dessert party. Invited guests were Mr. and Mrs. Jay Pisano and Mrs. Anna Grandinett.

Christina Smith, a member of the Randolph Henry High School Band, auditioned for and was selected to participate in the All District Band Competition. The selected students will be in concert at Powhatan High School Feb. 6. Christina is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Smith.

On Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Jason Powell enjoyed lunch at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith.

Don Meadows had breakfast Christmas morning in Farmville with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows enjoyed Christmas dinner at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Shotwell, in Richmond.

Lon and Mary Jo Stockton and Sean enjoyed Christmas dinner at the home of his parents, Richard and Margaret Stockton. They enjoyed the food, opening of gifts and fellowship.

Mrs. Betty Meadows attended tea at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond with her daughter, Julie, and granddaughter, Kate, on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows entertained friends, Shirley and George Moore, and Margaret and Richard Stockton with a pizza party Dec. 29.

Lon and Mary Jo Stockton and son Sean celebrated their 21st anniversary with a trip to Richmond to see “Star Wars.”

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith and grandchildren Brianna, Charles and Christina traveled to Stafford Jan. 2 to visit Jeff’s mother, Mrs. Dolores Smith. After enjoying lunch they drove to Unionville to visit Pat’s father, John Keaveny.

Mrs. Flora Bolt, Garland Woodson and Deborah Woodson met for lunch Dec. 29 at Merk’s Place. Deborah, (Debbie) of Sanford, N.C., was spending the week with her father, Garland.

Mrs. Peggy Kelsey has returned from New Hampshire where she visited her daughter Karen for a week.

Mrs. Flora Bolt spent Christmas Eve at the home of Mrs. Judy Bolt for dinner, gift opening and fellowship. There were 22 people in attendance.

On Christmas Day Mrs. Flora Bolt had lunch with her son Douglas his wife Betty Jean Bolt and a friend Neal Fisher. On New Years’ Eve Mrs. Flora Bolt joined friends and kin for food and fellowship at Billy’s Dance Club.

On Dec. 26 Mrs. Flora Bolt visited with Steve and Terri Bolt and their family. She was delighted to spend some time with each of her children and their families.

Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Bolt and sons traveled to Richmond for Christmas. Kyle returned home Christmas night with Jennifer and the sons staying in Richmond until Sunday.

Mrs. Hilda Allen has returned home following a two-week stay with her daughter, Mrs. Laura Justus and her family in Damascus.

Mrs. Richard Stockton had a good telephone visit from a cousin, Mrs. Betty Arnold, of Roanoke, just before Christmas as well as from a very dear friend, Mrs. Mildred Harvey Shanks.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Ruth Patteson, Billy Allen, Andrea Garrett, Shirley Fulcher, Hilda and Scott Friend, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt Dorothy Womack and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Caitilin R. Hoy will speak at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, Prospect, at 11 a.m. Sunday School is at 10 a.m.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville, 302 Industrial Park Road, invites you to worship Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Bible study is Wednesday at 7 p.m.
