Andrew A. Aimesbury

Army Ranger Cpl. Andrew A. Aimesbury, 21, died after being wounded during a “live-fire” exercise on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. He was born on November 7, 1994, in Manchester, NH, the son of Carl Aimesbury and Karen Kelsey.

After he enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 2013, Andrew completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, as an infantryman. After graduating from the Basic Airborne Course there, he was assigned to the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program also at Fort Benning. Andrew graduated from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program and was then assigned to Company D, 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, in August, 2013, where he was currently serving as a Team Leader.

He completed one tour of duty in Afghanistan. His military education includes the U.S. Army Ranger Course, Basic Airborne Course and the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program.

His awards and decorations include the Ranger Tab, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Parachutist Badge, and the Marksmanship Qualification Badge Expert-Carbine. Andrew has also been awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the NATO Medal.

He was an exceptional Ranger and a wonderful human being. He will be deeply missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

Andrew is survived by his parents, Carl Aimesbury of Somersworth and Karen Kelsey of Dover, NH, formerly of Prospect; his sister, Abby Aimesbury of Dover; grandparents, Peggy Aimesbury of Boyne City, Michigan, and the late Carl Aimesbury Sr.; Peggy S. Kelsey of Prospect, and the late Raymond H. Kelsey Sr.; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services were held December 19 at Dover Baptist Church with Chaplain Kramer from Savannah, GA officiating
