CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors voted Dec. 8 to rezone three parcels of property to allow for retail use and approved a conditional use permit for a new proposed fire house for the Cartersville Volunteer Fire Department.
The rezoning case was initiated by the county’s planning commission, according to county documents. “The proposed rezoning is within the area designated in the comprehensive plan as high intensity growth,” county documents state.
County staff recommended three parcels be rezoned along U.S. Route 60 and Route 13 to B-1 business from B-3 limited business.
The conditional use permit is requested by the Cartersville Volunteer Fire Department to build a new firehouse at the intersection of Cartersville and Jennings roads, according to county documents.
“The station will also require a setback reduction which will be addressed in a separate process,” the document states.
