Recently 1,500 student musicians from 15 counties competitively auditioned for the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association District III Bands.  Seven Fuqua School students were among those selected for this prestigious honor.

Seniors Stone Tucker (trombone) and Thomas Watson (trumpet) and freshman Ireland Seagle (clarinet) were selected for the Symphonic Band. Freshman Elizabeth Hice (flute) was selected for the Concert Band. Eighth-grade students Emily Erickson (flute/piccolo) and Ashley Handy (clarinet) and seventh- grade student Sarah Storm (trombone) were selected for the Junior Band.

“I am so proud of our students,” Fuqua School Band Director Camille Rabon said. “All the students who auditioned worked very hard to prepare for the day. Even students not selected for the Honors Band placed high in the district and will be contenders in future years. Having this many students place so highly in this competition for the second year in a row is tremendous!”
