Request granted for new cell tower
PRINCE EDWARD — County supervisors have given approval to special use permit request for a new cellular communications tower.
SBA Communications Corp. is set to construct a 195-foot monopole wireless communications tower on property owned by Robert Biggers Sr. at 13745 Farmville Road.
Supervisors approved the request on Dec. 8.
SBA “in conjunction with Verizon Wireless, is proposing the construction of a 195-foot monopole communications tower and associated facilities on the 78.9-acre parcel …,” the corporation stated in a letter to the county.
“SBA and Verizon contend that the proposed tower is needed to provide wireless coverage and data capacity along the U.S. [Route] 15 corridor … At present, there is a coverage ‘hole’ between the three existing tower sites. …”
The property is zoned A-1 agricultural.
