Meteor shower program at High Bridge

High Bridge Trail State Park will hold a meteor shower viewing event on Sunday. The Geminid meteor program will be held from 6-9 p.m. with Bruce and Karen Bellenir, members of the Friends group, discussing the random streaks of light creating trails across the night sky.

The horizon-to-horizon view from the bridge provides the perfect viewing platform, but the wind can kick up as it blows through the Appomattox River Valley, so be sure to dress for the weather. Arrive at the River Road parking area by 5:30 p.m. to allow for walking time to the bridge.

Don’t forget to bring water (or maybe hot chocolate) for refreshment as there is none available on the bridge. This program is free, but a parking fee of $4 per vehicle will apply to visitors parking at the River Road lot.

The community is invited to this free event.
