Bear Creek State Park will hold a First Day Hike on Jan. 1.

The Friends of Bear Creek Lake will provide refreshments between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Bear Creek Hall. At 11 a.m. participants will meet at the hall to walk and talk “The Big Idea.” This free Ranger-led tour will take participants to the park’s Legacy Wayside that feature stone structures built in the 1930s. The tour will be a little over a mile on Channel Cat Trail and will last about 90 minutes.

Free parking will be available for the event.
