Edward S. Vitale Jr.

Edward S. Vitale Jr. passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at home surrounded by his wife and children. He lives on in the hearts and minds of his wife, Dr. Rachael Swann and their children, Morgan, Matt, Maya, and Leah. He was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, January 21, 1949 to the late Edward Vitale, Sr. and Madeline Wisniewski, and was raised with his brother Henry.
Ed was involved with the Boy Scouts of America earning their highest ranking as an Eagle Scout. He joined the United States Navy’s Blue Angels in 1969. After his military service he returned home to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at Rutgers University. Upon completing his undergraduate degree he started his own building and renovation business and met and married Rachael, his wife of thirty-five years. Moving to Virginia he worked as a carpenter at Longwood University for twenty-five years, retiring in 2014.
His interests included raising his family, building and woodworking, cooking, reading, and playing the accordion. Ed was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.
A memorial celebration will be held outdoors Saturday, January 2 at 11 a.m. at his home.
Browning-Duffer Funeral Home, Keysville, served the family.
