Mr. Lightfoot was a dedicated family man. He was also dedicated to his work. He was a self-employed roofer specializing in “slate” for greater than 50 years prior to his retirement. He was a man of very few words but the words he spoke were of great volume. He was a man with many talents and also many nicknames. Some you may recognize: Edward, Burnelle, E.B., Grundy, Ed, Daddy, Granddaddy, Greggie, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. He had an infectious smile and was always willing to help out anyone in need. He will greatly be missed by all.
The family will receive friends at his home in New Canton on Thursday, December 3, from 12 noon to 8 pm.
A funeral service will be held, Friday, December 4 at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the
burial following in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. A meal will follow in the church’s fellowship hall.
At his and “Mama Anne’s” request, he will take his last walk carried by his boys: Eddie, Marvin Jr., Matt, Brad, Brett, A.C. Barry, Thomas, Aubrey, and his little men Wyatt and Clayton.
The family would like to thank all of our family and friends for your love and support during Grundy’s courageous battle with cancer.
