Lifelong Cumberland resident Robert Duncan will serve as grand marshal of the Cumberland Christmas Parade on Dec. 13.

Duncan operated his family’s dairy farm, milking 250 cows, until 1987 when the Dairy Farm Buy Out Program came about.

Until recently, Duncan was a one-third partner in P.L. Duncan Trucking Inc.

Duncan has also served on the Central Virginia Electric Cooperative Board of Directors and on the Cumberland-Buckingham Farm Service Agency for 20 years.

He served as president of the Cartersville Ruritan Club for three terms and is a charter member of the club with 39 years of perfect attendance.

Duncan has been a member of the Powhatan Lions Club and is a lifelong member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church near Columbia.

Duncan served as president of the Cumberland Farm Bureau for two terms, and also served on the board of directors of the Bank of Powhatan until its merger with the Bank of Essex.

The retired farmer resides on his family farm with his son, Matthais, and has three granddaughters.

The Christmas parade will begin at 2 p.m. on U.S. Route 60 at the courthouse.
