Changes planned for HOV Outdoor Arts Show

The Outdoor Arts Show of the Heart of Virginia Festival is planning some changes for 2016. The show is to be held on May 7, and the committee will be reaching out to new artists and artists who have shown and sold their work at this venue in the past.
The artists will be making on the colonnade around the Rotunda area as they have in the past. There will be cash prizes, corporate purchases and memorial purchase awards.
The show, which began in 1974, it was run by the Central Virginia Chapter of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. In 1976 the show moved to its present location on the Longwood campus. In the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, it was truly a festival of the “arts” with not only visual art for sale but also poetry readings, ballet, acoustic music, wine tastings, and more.
The committee hopes to revitalize and bring back much of that “fine arts” experience. For more information, call (434) 392-2114.
