Buckingham schools receive platinum certification

BUCKINGHAM — Buckingham County Public Schools has received recognition from the Virginia School Board Association (VSBA) as a platinum certified school division in the 2015 Green Schools Challenge.
According to a press release from the VSBA, the Green Schools Challenge emphasizes the implementation of environmental policies and practices that aid in reducing pollutants within the school division and community.
Buckingham was one of 32 schools that received honors in the challenge.
The school division achieved platinum status, having achieved between 175 to 200 points in the challenge.
According to the release, points are rewarded when positive measures are taken towards being a green school, including the adoption of new policies and actions.
The Green Schools Challenge was sponsored by Moseley Architects, ABM Building and Energy Solutions.
