The auxiliary of the Dillwyn Fire Department honors an honorary auxiliary member each year.  This year the award was given to Chief Jason Wharam, of the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department.  “He is present at every event or fundraiser sponsored by the auxiliary and supports the organization one hundred percent,” a spokesperson said. Presenting the award to Wharam is Betty Shapiro.
