Appomattox Court House National Historical Park will hold its 2015 Holiday Open House on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The village will be decorated with live greenery and handmade ornaments and will offer a glimpse of 1860s Virginia when families celebrated a more simply decorated Civil War-era Christmas. Fresh greenery and handmade wreaths are courtesy of the Appomattox Garden Club. There will be a children’s craft station, where old-fashioned Christmas ornaments can be made. The Visitor Center will be the stop for hot coffee and refreshments. All are invited to this festive occasion.
Appomattox Court House NHP is located on Highway 24, three miles from Appomattox. The park is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entrance fees are waived for this event. For further information call (434) 352-8987 ext. 226.
