Advance ticket packages are now on sale for the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts’ biennial winter gala on Feb. 13, 2016.

The creative black-tie fundraiser will feature a silent auction, live music and dancing to benefit the LCVA’s programs, which include exhibitions, community programming and outreach activities in area schools.

The $250 ticket package includes two tickets and one-half hour early entry to the gala, which customarily sells out. To purchase the package, contact Beverley Roberts at (434) 395-2551 or robertsbm@longwood.edu.

The theme of this year’s gala, Southern Gothic, pays homage to the beauty, mystery and charm of sultry nighttime southern gardens.

“Our planning committee has been extremely creative with the theme and have curated an exceptional evening that includes an inspired menu, signature cocktails and the experience indoors of a lush garden party,” Rachel Ivers, executive director of LCVA, said. “I’m personally looking forward to dancing ‘outdoors’ in the middle of February.”

The biennial event will be held from 7-11 p.m. at the LCVA, located at the corner of Main and Third Streets in historic downtown Farmville.

“The winter gala is the premiere event of its kind in our area, but it is much more than just a fabulous party,” Linda Cheyne, who co-chairs the event along with her husband Stan, said. “The gala is the LCVA’s primary fundraiser that supports every aspect of their operations.”

The LCVA fosters creativity and involvement in the visual arts through its exhibitions, educational programs, permanent collection and volunteer and internship programs.

Admission to the center and its programs is free.
Also available are tax-deductible sponsorship packages. Gala sponsors have the opportunity to arrive at the gala one hour in advance of its opening for an exclusive reception. More information may be found at www.lcva.longwood.edu.

Individual tickets go on sale Dec. 1 for $100 each.

The Cheynes are joined as co-chairs by Leadership Sponsors Charles H. Dowdy III and Candy Jamison Dowdy ’69. Robert Mayo and Margaret Thompson Mayo ’52 are honorary chairs.
