CUMBERLAND — The Cumberland County Board of Supervisors will hold three public hearings on Dec. 8 regarding a zoning code amendment, a rezoning application and a conditional use permit.

The proposed code amendment “would allow property owners who meet acreage requirements to keep additional animals on their property,” according to county documents. “Currently, farm uses in the R-2 district are restricted to pasture land without a conditional use permit.”

The rezoning case was initiated by the county’s planning commission, according to county documents. “The proposed rezoning is within the area designated in the comprehensive plan as high intensity growth.”

County staff are recommending three parcels be rezoned along U.S. Route 60 and Route 13 to B-1 business from B-3 limited business.

The conditional use permit is requested by the Cartersville Volunteer Fire Department to build a new firehouse at the intersection of Cartersville and  Jennings roads, according to county documents.

“The station will also require a setback reduction which will be addressed in a separate process,” the document states.

The hearings will take place during the board’s 7 p.m. regular meeting in the circuit court room.
