Local horse rescue co-founder Jorg Huckabee-Mayfield has published “I Am Mr. Bowersox,” a book that illustrates the plight of horses in America, based on the life of a real rescued pony.

Mr. Bowersox, the protagonist was shipped over 2,400 miles after his rescue from an auction in Missoula, Montana. The book depicts the challenges faced by ponies and horses who may lose their value to their owners as they age. It illustrates many of the serious issues facing the horse population today and teaches important lessons about responsibility to children and adults.

The book is available through the rescue’s web site at www.whitebirdapps.com. All of the net proceeds will go directly to provide care for rescued horses and ponies.
