PRINCE EDWARD — Supervisors in Prince Edward County have voted to ban Sunday waterfowl hunting at the Sandy River Reservoir south of Farmville.
The action came following a public hearing Tuesday where no one spoke.
“Waterfowl hunting is allowed at the Sandy River Reservoir. With the recent changes in state hunting regulations, which now permit Sunday hunting, the board of supervisors has the option of establishing whether Sunday waterfowl hunting is permitted at the … reservoir,” a county document stated.
The board’s action was unanimous.
According to the ordinance governing the reservoir, hunting and trapping without permission from the county is prohibited, with the exception of waterfowl hunting, which requires no county permit.
