On Aug. 1, We Understand Youth Outreach (WUY) Community Outreach held its second annual Summer Jamboree and Fashion Show.
Participants, ages 3-20, met at R.R. Moton Museum for an afternoon of learning, fellowship and fun.
The event included a presentation from the Prince Edward Sheriff’s Department, a workshop with children’s book author Joseph R. Vivens and a fashion show. The models were asked to participate in three categories: “My Future,” “Dress to Impress” and “Back to School.” The event ended with a cookout. Sponsors included R.R. Moton Museum, Prince Edward Sheriff’s Department, Caryn’s Bridals, Belk, Virginia Children’s Book Festival, Great Escapes, DJ Fredrick Harrison, photographer KC Ramsay and local individuals who volunteered to do hair and make-up, set-up, and cook and serve.
W.U.Y. Community Outreach looks forward to continuing to bring free events for local youth.
