FARMVILLE — Two area non-profits, Piedmont Senior Resources (PSR) and Southside SPCA participated in The Amazing Raise in Farmville on Sept 16-17.

The Southside SPCA finished third overall among small organizations in the competition, earning an additional $7,500 prize.

“We raised a total of $31,400 for the animals,” Southside SPCA Vice President Mike Fink said. “We owe a huge thank you to our many loyal supporters.”

“We reached our goal of $5,000,” Piedmont Senior Resources Executive Director Justine Young said.

This was the first year in the fundraising event for Piedmont Senior Resources that provides a variety of services, from legal advice to home-delivered meals, to those over the age of 60 in seven local counties.

The Amazing Raise is a 36-hour online giving event that challenges communities throughout Central Virginia to increase their giving to local nonprofits.
