Appomattox County will celebrate the 43rd historic Appomattox Railroad Festival on Saturday, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, noon-5 p.m.

This two-day event commemorates the Norfolk & Western Railroad donation of the Appomattox Depot to the Town of Appomattox in 1973.

Festival events include a parade, arts and crafts, food, classic car show, fireworks, firefighters competition, amusements and rides, model train display, RR Willie train ride, fine art show, small gauge steam engine rides and a 5K race.

The Kentucky Headhunters will be in concert as well as Funky Bone, James River Cutups, Deep Blue Express and Clearwater Branch. New events include the Hillbilly Silly Science Spectacular and the Battles End Bucking Bulls rodeo.
