BUCKINGHAM — Several Buckingham landowners are due in court Tuesday afternoon to face Atlantic Coast Pipeline (ACP) LLC as the firm sues to gain access to survey on their properties.
Civil hearings are set for 1 p.m. in Buckingham Circuit Court for Robert Calvin Day Jr., Beverly B. McQuary, Michael W. Huntley, Charles D. and Linda L. Chaffins, Mercedes A. and Jeffrey E. Villaman and Mary Ann and Richard Perkins Jr.
ACP, LLC, a joint venture led by Dominion, is seeking federal approval of a 42-inch natural gas pipeline that would travel through Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward counties.
“Dominion (Goliath) is hoping you (David) won’t notice as they smilingly, quietly, rob you of your rights to protect, use and enjoy your private property,” said Chad Oba, chair of Friends of Buckingham, a group opposed to the ACP of the suits. “Watch and listen closely as Dominion’s lawyers and spokespersons use language designed to suggest that their opponents are stupid, are ‘misinformed’ about the safety, health and environmental impacts of their profit-making venture, are unable to comprehend dense pages of engineering specifications,” she said.
