No pride in hunting with bait

I would like to offer a differing opinion concerning the column in the Sept. 25th edition titled “Hunting policy defies rational thinking.”
To begin with, you can feed deer in Virginia 365 days a year … you just can’t hunt over the feed. Having the need to hunt deer over bait shows an inability to be a true hunter. Hunting over bait does not make one a hunter, but only a shooter.
It can only be classified as taking the easy way to kill a deer. It takes no talent or skill to dump deer food in the woods, put up a stand and wait for a deer to come eat. I was taught from a young age how to track and pattern deer habits, learn where best to put a stand and wait for an opportunity.
It is beyond me to understand how anyone can be truly proud of killing a trophy buck after leading him to slaughter with bait.
