New voting machines set for use

BUCKINGHAM — Voters in Buckingham will use a new digital scan voting system on Tuesday.
“Every voter will receive a ballot card on which … selections are made by filling in an oval beside a candidate’s name,” stated Voter Registrar Margaret Thomas in a press release. “The voter then inserts the ballot card into a scanner which records the votes. The ballot card drops into the ballot box thereby creating a paper trail. The counted ballot cards are retained by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for one year,” she said.
Thomas said that a photo ID is required for voting. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day.
