NAACP Banquet to honor community members

The Annual Prince Edward Branch of the NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, at 4 p.m. at the Firemen’s Sports Arena, 1328 Zion Hill Road, Farmville.
The theme is “NAACP: Still Answering The Call.”
This year the branch will be honoring members of the Prince Edward community who have made a difference: Mrs. Ernestine Herndon, Mrs. Patsy Franklin and Mrs. Flossie Hudson, all retired educators, Prince Edward County Public Schools; Rev. Samuel Williams, civil rights leader and activist; James Scott, educator and coach, Prince Edward County Public Schools; Jeffrey Paul House, retired educator and coach, Prince Edward County Public Schools; Ken Woodley, retired editor of The Farmville Herald.
Perry Carrington and the Voices of Unity will be in concert. James Scott Jr., of Prospect, 1988 graduate of Prince Edward Public Schools, will be the guest speaker.
