LCVA to hold four-day painting workshop
“Watermedia: Exploring Yupo and Gessoed Paper,” a four-day watercolor workshop with Ursula Burgess, will be held 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 16, through Thursday, Nov. 19. The program, sponsored by Central Virginia Arts and the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts, will be held in the lower level of LCVA, 129 North Main Street in Farmville.
“Working on a slippery surface will expose you to a variety of new, fun watercolor techniques you cannot achieve with normal watercolor paper,” artist and instructor Ursula Burgess said. “We are using acetate paper called Yupo or gesso-treated watercolor paper to eliminate absorption. This is a workshop for all levels from the beginner to advanced student.“
Ursula often uses a combination of media and a variety of unusual tools to create texture and interest in her paintings. Her latest watercolor painting on Yupo paper was selected by the Central Virginia Watercolor Guild for the Juried Annual Watercolor Exhibition at the McGuffey Art Center, Charlottesville.
She teaches workshops locally throughout the year as well as in her Art Studio near Crewe. She is currently on the Board of Central Virginia Arts and as President of Art of Virginia, a local artist cooperative. Ursula exhibits her work throughout Virginia at her Art Studio/Gallery in Crewe or on Facebook under Ursula Burgess Art Studio.
The workshop fee for is $80 for four days or $25 per day for CVA/LCVA members. For non-members, the cost is $110 for four days or $35 per day. The class is limited to 16. For more information or to register, call (434) 392-6804 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
