FARMVILLE — Farmville’s inaugural Community Holiday Tree lighting will be held on Friday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m

The Farmville Town Council set the date last week.

The event will take place at the Main Street Plaza in downtown Farmville near the caboose.

The holiday tree was purchased several months ago from Longwood University, according to the town.

The Nov. 20 date is a move from a recommendation to hold the event on Sunday, Nov. 22, in an effort to attract people to the downtown area when businesses are open.
