H-SC Music Series planned

On Monday, Oct. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in Crawley Forum the Hampden-Sydney Music Series will host violinist Francesca Anderegg and pianist Matthew McCright.

This performance entitled “Contemporary Voices from Latin America” will feature the music of Piazzolla, Ginastera, Revultas, and others. 

Hailed by “The New York Times” for her “rich tone” and “virtuosic panache,” Anderegg delivers insightful accounts of contemporary and classical music.

She holds degrees from Harvard and Juilliard, where her teachers included Robert Mann, Nicholas Mann, Ronald Copes, Naoko Tanaka, Lynn Chang and Betty-Jean Hagen.

American pianist Matthew McCright has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the South Pacific as piano soloist and chamber musician.

McCright currently resides in Minneapolis, Minn., teaches privately in the Twin Cities, and is a member of the piano faculty of Carleton College.

McCright completed his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance from the University of Minnesota, Master of Music Degree in Piano from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance, magna cum laude, from Westminster College. His past teachers include Lydia Artymiw, Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, Lisa Moore and Richard Morris.

The concert, free and open to the public is part of Hampden-Sydney’s continuing commitment to the intellectual and cultural enrichment of the Southside community.
