Eugene Lowry ‘Boo’ Fowlkes

Eugene Lowry “Boo” Fowlkes, 83, of Burkeville, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2015. He was born in Prince Edward County to the late James H. and Mabel Elliott Fowlkes on October 8, 1932.
Mr. Fowlkes lived in the same house he was born in all his life and as an adult he worked on the family tobacco farm. As a teenager he was an accomplished baseball player at Farmville High School. He was an avid quail hunter and always had a huge garden that was shared with his family and community. He was a member of Bagby Memorial Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Julian G. Fowlkes and Robert E. Fowlkes. Surviving are a brother, James W. Fowlkes (Charlean) of Burkeville; sisters in law, Shirley N. Fowlkes and Jean G. Fowlkes both of Burkeville; eight nephews and two nieces.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, at 2 p.m. in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice. Family will receive friends, Tuesday, October 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.
