Many believe that the absence of a third grocery store is the problem with grocery shopping in Farmville. It is unlikely that we will attract a new store, so another solution may be expanding the selection in the existing Food Lion.

Since I prefer to shop in a clean store, I always try Food Lion first. But more often than not, Food Lion does not carry the brand or item I seek, and I am forced to go to Walmart or to wait until my next trip to Richmond to shop. I do not believe I am alone.

Larger Food Lions that I have visited have a much wider selection, and so it is my hope that Food Lion will expand into the soon-to-be-vacant Sears store.

That is why I have emailed Food Lion to encourage them to expand its Farmville store.  Visit www.foodlion.com and click on “contact us.” I will also write to Greg Finchum, Sr. VP Retail Operations, Food Lion. P.O. Box 1130, Salisbury NC, 28145. Perhaps others will do the same.
