The Farmville Herald is pleased to announce that a new monthly column by Dr. James Jordan, professor of anthropology at Longwood University, will begin this month in the Life section.
A professor at Longwood University since 1978, Jordan organized Longwood’s Archeology Field School that in 2012 was named in his honor. Last year, Jordan received Longwood’s highest honor, presented only nine times in the school’s 175-year history, the Board of Visitors Distinguished Professorship.
In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Jordan served three years as executive director of The Nature Camp of Virginia and 12 years as naturalist for the Virginia State Parks. He was also selected for what he considers to be his real claim to fame — a technical consultant for Fox Network’s “Bones.”
Watch for Dr. Jordan’s “Digging History” column in the Herald’s Sept. 25 Life section.
