SCOTTSVILLE — The chairman of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors has announced that she is running for Congress.
Jane Dittmar, who represents the Scottsville District on the board, will face incumbent Republican Congressman Robert Hurt next November. Hurt currently represents the Fifth Congressional District, which spans from Northern Virginia to the N.C. border.
Dittmar plans on running as a Democrat.
“While there are different national issues that capture our attention, I believe, and many agree, that individual and family financial stability is of the greatest urgency and importance,” she said in a release. “If we team up, together we can increase jobs, ensure a well-trained workforce, and provide the infrastructure necessary to find and retain jobs and employers for the areas we serve.”
