CVA to offer Botanical Watercolors workshop

Central Virginia Arts will offer offers a workshop, “Botanical Watercolors,” on Saturday, Oct. 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hampden-Sydney College.

Participants will learn basic watercolor techniques through exercises designed to help them understand color properties and improve brush control. Information on paper, paint and drawing techniques used in botanical art will be discussed. Basic drawing skills are required to draw the botanical specimen from which participants will paint elegant botanical watercolors. All materials are provided.

Presenter Dawn Flores is a professional artist and instructor who teaches art courses nationally. She double-majored in art and theater at the Edgewood College, the University of Wisconsin — Madison, and Loyola University in New Orleans, and earned a Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration from the New York Botanical Garden.
