Charles Thurman Overstreet, 85, of Dillwyn, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at The Woodlands. He was the widower of Indiana Moss Overstreet.

Mr. Overstreet was born November 24, 1929 in Halifax County, where he was raised and attended Halifax County Schools. He graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in June 1947.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1951 and remained there until March 1960 when he was placed on the medical retired list. In 1960, he came to Buckingham County to work as a butcher at Nicholas Supermarket for 22 years.

In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers; and is survived by four stepchildren, James Bragg (Sandy) of Washington, D.C., Carol Crump (Billy) of Farmville, Debbie Mawyer (James) of Farmville, and Don Bragg (Pam) of Buckingham; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 3, at 1 p.m. in the Buckingham Community Cemetery.
