Lancer women’s basketball opens Italy trip with a 70-56 win

In its first game in Italy, the Longwood University women’s basketball team stepped onto the court Monday and came away with a 70-56 win over Selezione Mule Triste.

The two teams played under international rules with four 10-minute quarters and a 24-second shot clock.

Senior Kyndal Skersick led the Lancers in scoring with 24 points to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Micaela Ellis chipped in 11 points and four rebounds, while Autumn Childress finished with nine points, nine boards and a team-high five assists.

Junior college transfer Eboni Gilliam made her first appearance in a Lancer uniform after playing for Cape Fear Community College the past two seasons. The Richmond native posted a double-double in the contest, as she finished with 10 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
