Vows Exchanged

The marriage of Amanda Elizabeth Chandler, daughter of Ms. Carol Chandler, of Farmville, to Adam Meredith Freitag, son of Ms. Paula Freitag and the late Kenny Freitag, of Blackstone, took place Friday, April 3, at the Jefferson Hotel, Richmond.

Pastor Steve Conwell officiated the double ring ceremony.

The bride, escorted by her brother, Andrew J. Chandler III, wore an ivory one-shoulder gown with sweetheart neckline, beaded lace appliques, tulle ball skirt and chapel train designed by Oleg Cassini. A vintage gold and Swarovski crystal headpiece held her fingertip tulle veil adorned with beaded border and floral appliques. She carried a cascading bouquet of peonies, hydrangeas, roses, and orchids.

Courtney Warren, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ronda Chandler, sister-in-law of the bride, Roxy Aldrich, and Janet Bunell.

Matthew Freitag was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Leo Gardner, John Aldrich, and Jimmy Haskell. Ring bearer Matthew Warren, nephew of the bride, lit the memorial candle.

The Somerset String Quartet provided music.

The reception, with “Happily Ever After” Disney theme, was in the Empire Room, Jefferson Hotel.

Following a Western Caribbean Disney cruise, the couple will reside in Farmville.

The bride, a 2004 graduate of Fuqua School, received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders with minor in Special Education from Longwood University in 2008 and 2010. She is employed by Lunenburg County Schools as a speech-language pathologist,

The groom, a 2003 graduate of Nottoway County High School and 2007 graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, is a tugboat captain with Kirby Inland Marine.

The mother, sister, and sister-in-law of the bride gave a bridal shower March 7 at Charley’s Waterfront Café. Maranatha Baptist Church and Victoria Elementary School also gave showers. The groom’s mother hosted the rehearsal dinner at Lemaire’s Restaurant, Jefferson Hotel.
