On Saturday, June 6, the Friends of High Bridge Trail, Longwood University staff, and members of the community will team up with High Bridge Trail State Park to combat litter entering the Appomattox River and degrading the Chesapeake Bay. Volunteers will meet at the Farmville municipal parking lot on Second Street, near the Dowdy’s Furniture Building in Farmville at 1:30 p.m.

The project will be concentrating on the Gross Creek tributary from Second Street to where it joins the Appomattox below the park’s River Road overpass. Be prepared to walk through weeds and mud. Please wear work clothes, old shoes, gloves and sunscreen and bring bottled water and bug spray.
