FARMVILLE — Two members of The Farmville Herald’s news staff received second-place awards in the annual National Federation of Press Women contest.
Social Editor Marge Swayne took second place in the specialty articles category for her contributions to The Herald’s annual wedding guide, while Sports Editor Hannah Davis received second place in the single photograph category for a sports photo.
“It is always an honor to represent The Herald and the Farmville community in state and national competitions,” said Swayne. “My winning entries, this year for two features in The Herald’s annual wedding guide, would not be possible without the good works and interesting stories of the readers The Herald represents.”
Davis said she was thrilled to receive the award. “It was my first year entering a press contest and I was just hoping to win any state award that I could. But, winning nationally has made my year.”
Herald Publisher Steve Stewart commended both journalists.
“It’s gratifying to see Marge and Hannah recognized for the first-rate content they routinely provide for our readers,” Stewart said. “We are blessed to have them on our team.”
